Father Mike's Message for our Young People

Father-Mike_up_brightened - cropped.jpg

Our Assumption BVM Parish Family is a blessing to me.   As families are made up of people of different ages, so our parish, a family on a larger scale, is made up of people of different ages, and each person is important.   This Youth Website has been a handy tool for many years so that we may present and know the many varied activities our parish has for and by our young people.

Mr. John Chiodo has managed the site for many years, and has recently asked me about whether we should keep it, especially since CYO has, sadly, faded away.  I think our parish should keep this website because we are active with more potential for involvement from people of all ages in our family.

I appeal to the young people in our parish family to connect to our parish, and offer suggestions for ‘new’ youth activities, because you are not only the future of our Church and our nation; you are the present, the “Now”!   How about intramural sports for young people of all ages at ABVM?

This youth website can be utilized to help publicize, promote and implement new activities like an intramural sports program!  How about website posts here from the Scouts, Youth in Action, and our Parish Religious Education Program? Some of these groups already have pages on this website just waiting for news of their activities and progress.

Should you have ideas for new youth oriented initiatives or posts to show what existing youth groups are currently involved with, please do not hesitate to contact us at the email address detailed below on this page in the 'WE NEED YOU' section!

I am blessed to be the “father” of the ABVM Family, and look forward to more participation from people of all ages.

Peace,

Father Mike

WELCOME TO OUR WEBSITE!

     WE NEED YOU!

At Assumption BVM, there are many opportunities for our young people to become involved in parish life.  However, no program can be effective without parents and adults willing to share their time and talents with our youth.

Please consider joining us to continue our ability to offer these opportunities  to our youth.  Archdiocesan Safe Environment policies must be followed.

For More information, please contact John Chiodo, Youth Ministries IT Officer at jchiodo@hotmail.com.

In our region (region 19), we have seen many mergers that made CYO programs stronger including St. Ann’s / St. Marks, Holy Trinity / St. Johns, and Queen of the Universe / St. Joes / Cabrini.

We are looking into bigger and better things and we'll keep you posted with what we do in the future. We have been working on this for a while and are committed to being very strong going forward. Please be patient with us as we do the best we can.

We also continue looking into doing in-house and community programs, like our strong pee-wee basketball program.

Assumption CYO

Dear Assumption Families,

With the lower CYO enrollment and a shortage of volunteers to run our various sports programs, we have no recourse but to suspend our CYO program and look into merging with another parish in an attempt to continue the great program we already have.
